Swiss Fondue

I got this recipe from my German teacher in high school.  I still think it's very tasty! Thanks Frau Laumer!

1 pound Swiss cheese grated

1 garlic clove

3/4 cup dry white wine

1 1/2  teaspoon(s) cornstarch

2 tablespoon(s) kirsch or white wine

1/8 teaspoon(s) nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon(s) salt

Dash of pepper

French bread, cut into bite-sized squares

1. Rub the inside of the fondue dish with the cut clove of garlic.

2. Pour in whine. Heat to boiling.

3. Add grated cheese gradually, stirring constantly with a slotted wooden spoon over moderate heat until melted and blended with the wine.

4. Blend cornstarch with kirsch or white wine and add to cheese mixture.

5. Continue stirring and let the fondue come to a boil again.

6. Add seasonings and lower heat.

7. Keep warm at the table and use fondue forks for dipping French bread into the fondue.

Geniessen sich!
